Personal Bio:
I am a 25-year resident of Alaska and understand many of the unique challenges we face living here. I enjoy spending summers camping, gardening, and exploring our great state. One of my favorite summer traditions is attending Chickenstock—if you haven’t been, I highly recommend it! Winters are for traveling, spending time with friends and family, and cooking.
After 20 years working in the heating industry, I discovered my true calling in counseling. I have several family members who have struggled with mental health concerns, which has deepened my passion for helping others. While I am not a “Christian counselor,” I am a Christian and am open to thoughtfully incorporating spirituality in whatever form is meaningful to you, should you choose.
If you are an adult struggling with relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, past trauma, or anxiety, I may be a good fit for you.
Qualifications:
I hold an A.A. in Biblical Studies, a B.S. in Clinical Psychology, and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. All of my degrees were earned through Colorado Christian University, which is CACREP certified and holds students to high academic and ethical standards.
I am trained in Gottman Couples Therapy and have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 training. I am also certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which focuses on emotional regulation and is particularly effective for individuals with borderline personality disorder.
Approach to Therapy:
I incorporate several therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Strengths-Based Therapy. I collaborate with clients to determine what approaches best fit their needs and lifestyle, helping them identify their strengths and develop practical skills to move forward in a healthier, more fulfilling way.
Availability:
I currently offer both in-person and telehealth sessions. My office hours are Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, as well as Fridays, with evening appointments available.
